Big Brother Naija (BBNaija) has paid a heartfelt tribute to three of its former housemates who passed away in recent years—Francisca Owumi, Joseph Ada, and Rico Swavey.
During the ongoing season, housemates gathered on Monday for an emotional moment as images of the late stars were displayed on the screen. The house then observed a solemn minute of silence in their honour.
Francisca Owumi (2006)
Francisca Owumi, the vibrant runner-up of BBNaija’s debut season in 2006, was remembered for her free-spirited personality and love for dance. She sadly passed away in 2024 after a long battle with illness.
Joseph “Joe” Ada (2006)
Also from the 2006 season, Joseph Ada was honoured following his death in May 2023 due to health-related challenges. His time on the show left a mark as one of the early faces of the BBNaija franchise.
Rico Swavey (2018)
Patrick Fakoya, popularly known as Rico Swavey, from the 2018 “Double Wahala” season, was remembered for his creativity, calm presence, and artistic talent. He tragically died in 2022 following a car accident.
BBNaija’s Lasting Legacy
Over the years, BBNaija has grown into one of Africa’s biggest reality TV shows, producing stars who leave lasting memories with fans. This tribute highlighted not just the impact of the show but also the personal connections viewers built with the housemates.
The ceremony served as a reminder of the enduring influence of the reality TV franchise and the legacies left behind by the late stars.
