President Bola Tinubu has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of Alhaji Abbas Sanusi, the Galadiman Kano, and a senior kingmaker in the Kano Emirate. Sanusi, who died at the age of 92 after a prolonged illness, was a key figure in preserving and advancing the traditional institution. He is survived by numerous children and grandchildren, including Alhaji Abdullahi Abbas, the Kano State chairman of the All Progressives Congress.
In a statement by his spokesman, Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu described Sanusi as a pillar of the Kano Emirate, whose influence extended beyond the state. His dedication to the traditional system left a lasting legacy that will be remembered for generations. The President emphasized the late chief’s role in strengthening the cultural and historical values of Kano.
Tinubu extended heartfelt condolences to the government and people of Kano State, the Kano Emirate Council, and Sanusi’s family. He offered prayers for the departed’s soul to find eternal rest in Jannatul Firdaus, acknowledging his invaluable service to the nation and the Emirate.
