The United States Bureau of Counterterrorism has praised the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) for its commitment and contributions to the fight against terrorism in Nigeria. Jessica Long, Acting Principal Deputy Coordinator for Counterterrorism, gave the commendation during a high-level meeting with NAF officials in Abuja.
Long acknowledged Nigeria’s recent successes in disrupting terrorist networks and highlighted the intelligence-driven tactics that have enhanced national security. She emphasized that these efforts have not only safeguarded strategic regions within Nigeria but also contributed to broader stability in the region.
The US reaffirmed its continued support for NAF’s counterterrorism initiatives, stressing the importance of international collaboration in addressing evolving security threats. Long also emphasized precision-driven operations to enhance the effectiveness of counterterrorism efforts.
AVM Ibikunle Daramola, Chief of Civil-Military Relations, reiterated the NAF’s commitment to national security and civilian protection during military operations. He highlighted advancements in community engagement and called for increased cooperation in training and technology transfer to strengthen Nigeria’s counterterrorism capabilities.
The meeting, attended by senior NAF officers, focused on strengthening security cooperation, intelligence sharing, and operational support to enhance the effectiveness of Nigeria’s counterinsurgency efforts.
