President Bola Tinubu has appointed Shamsedeen Ogunjimi as the new Accountant General of the Federation, effective March 7, 2025, following a rigorous selection process.
Ogunjimi will succeed Oluwatoyin Madehin, who is set to retire on the same day.
According to Presidential Spokesman Bayo Onanuga, Ogunjimi’s appointment was based on a merit-driven process involving a written assessment, an ICT proficiency test, and an oral interview.
The selection highlights Tinubu’s commitment to transparency, excellence, and competence in public service appointments.
Ogunjimi, 57, holds a Bachelor’s degree in Accountancy from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, and a Master’s in Accounting and Finance from the University of Lagos. He is also a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria and the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria.
