Trinity University, Yaba, Lagos, has produced two graduates with perfect Cumulative Grade Point Averages (CGPAs) of 5.00 among 79 first-class graduands at its fifth convocation ceremony.
The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Clement Kolawole, disclosed this on Monday during a news conference announcing activities for the ceremony scheduled for Friday.
The outstanding graduates are Osemen Esezobor of the Department of Computer Science and Osayuware Osazuwa of the Department of International Relations.
Kolawole said 147 graduands earned second-class upper degrees, 48 obtained second-class lower degrees, while 10 graduated with third-class honours.
He also announced the elevation of Mrs Modupeade Adetunji to the rank of professor of Food Microbiology and Mycotoxicology, following approval by the university’s Governing Council.
According to him, the institution has introduced compulsory skills acquisition programmes to improve graduates’ employability, while some students have secured international remote jobs through a digital literacy partnership.
The university has also restructured its academic units into four faculties and adjusted its convocation schedule to accommodate National Youth Service Corps registration and foreign university admission deadlines.
The Pro-Chancellor, Mr Samuel Olatunji, reaffirmed the university’s commitment to integrity, faith, cooperation and community development.
The weeklong convocation activities include a lecture, degree conferment, prize presentations and a thanksgiving service.
