The Nollywood Cultural Heritage Festival is set to return to Abuja for its 14th edition, with organisers planning to honour individuals and organisations promoting Nigeria’s cultural heritage.
The festival will hold from October 22 to 24 at the FCT Exhibition Pavilion under the theme, “Preserving African Heritage Through Film, Culture, Tourism and Creative Enterprise.”
According to founder Agility Onwurah, the festival will recognise stakeholders across the film, fashion, art, tourism and creative industries who have contributed to promoting Nigerian culture locally and internationally.
The programme will feature an African Fashion Runway, food festival, cultural dances, film screenings, comedy and other cultural performances.
The first day will include “Egwu Onwa”, or Moonlight Night, designed to recreate the traditional setting where communities gathered for storytelling, music and social interaction.
The festival will also screen African films and present awards for outstanding films, directors and other contributions to the preservation of African heritage.
Onwurah said discussions would also focus on how Nigerian culture and heritage could create economic opportunities. He encouraged individuals and organisations to support the festival through funding, participation and promotion.
The festival will remain free to the public and will feature cultural stakeholders and corporate partners.
