The German Embassy in Nigeria has warned Nigerians against relying on misinformation from so-called visa agents when seeking information about visa applications.
The embassy issued the warning on Wednesday through its official X account, urging applicants to obtain visa-related information directly from official sources.
“Beware of misinformation. Save yourself the hassle & just ask us directly,” the embassy said.
The mission also invited Nigerians to share claims they had heard from visa agents so it could address them in upcoming posts.
The embassy further clarified that it does not partner with visa agents.
“We do not work with any ‘visa Agents’!” it stated, adding that relevant visa information is freely available through its official website.
The warning comes amid the circulation of potentially misleading information about visa applications and procedures. The embassy urged Nigerians to verify such claims through official channels to avoid unnecessary costs, confusion and possible fraud.
