Manchester United midfielder Manuel Ugarte has suffered a knee ligament injury while on international duty with Uruguay at the FIFA World Cup.
The 25-year-old was stretchered off during Uruguay’s defeat to Spain after twisting his knee in an attempted tackle. The club confirmed he will undergo further medical assessments in Manchester to determine the extent of the injury and his recovery timeline.
Ugarte has made 69 appearances for United since joining from Paris Saint-Germain in 2024. A lengthy spell on the sidelines could affect both his future at Old Trafford and the club’s midfield plans for the new season.
