The Inspector General of Police has directed a renewed and intensified campaign against criminal activities in Kano State, urging officers to strengthen their operational strategies and boost intelligence-led policing across all divisions. The directive signals a firm push to curb rising insecurity and restore public confidence.
According to the directive, police formations are expected to increase visibility in crime-prone areas, coordinate joint patrols, and respond swiftly to security threats in order to restore public confidence and safety.
The IG emphasized that modern policing requires proactive engagement, better use of intelligence gathering, and stronger collaboration with community stakeholders to effectively curb rising insecurity challenges across Kano.
Residents of Kano have continued to express concerns over insecurity, while authorities assure that sustained operations will target criminal hideouts and disrupt networks fueling violence and other offences.
Security agencies also called on residents to provide credible information that can aid ongoing operations, stressing that community participation remains crucial in achieving lasting peace and stability in the state.
Meanwhile, coordinated efforts between federal and state policing units are being strengthened to ensure rapid response to emerging threats, with a focus on dismantling organised criminal groups operating within urban and rural communities. The Inspector General reiterated that the police will not relent in their efforts, as sustained pressure on criminals remains key to ensuring safety and restoring normal economic and social activities across Kano State.
He further assured that improved logistics, training, and intelligence sharing will continue to support field officers in delivering effective and timely security responses across all affected areas. This move aims to strengthen nationwide security efforts.
