Former Manchester United F.C. captain Wayne Rooney has described Pep Guardiola as the “Sir Alex Ferguson of his generation.”
Speaking on the BBC’s Wayne Rooney Show, Rooney praised Guardiola’s dominance at Manchester City F.C., where he has won multiple Premier League titles, domestic cups and the UEFA Champions League.
Rooney, who played under legendary manager Alex Ferguson at Manchester United, said Guardiola stands far above other modern managers in terms of success and influence.
However, Rooney noted that Ferguson’s 26-year reign at Manchester United remains unmatched due to the scale of rebuilding required when he first took over the club.
Guardiola is expected to leave Manchester City at the end of the season after a decade of remarkable success.
