A shawarma vendor identified simply as Andy has been shot dead by suspected cultists in the Sangotedo area of Lagos State.
According to reports, the attackers disguised themselves as customers before opening fire on the victim at close range while he attended to them at his business spot.
The assailants reportedly fled immediately after the attack, leaving the victim dead at the scene.
An anti-cultism platform, Confra Naija, later claimed that members of the Eiye cult group were responsible for the killing, although police authorities said investigations were still ongoing.
Residents and sympathisers described the deceased as a peaceful and hardworking businessman from Benue State.
The incident has renewed concerns over cult-related violence in several parts of Lagos, especially within the Lekki-Ajah corridor and surrounding communities where rival groups have repeatedly clashed in recent years.
