Health experts have raised concerns over a growing but largely invisible crisis of undiagnosed Haemophilia in Nigeria.
The condition, which affects the body’s ability to clot blood, often goes unnoticed, leading to preventable complications and deaths.
According to the World Health Organisation, only a fraction of haemophilia cases worldwide are diagnosed, with Nigeria identifying just a small percentage of its estimated patients.
To address the gap, the Haemophilia Foundation of Nigeria has launched the “Road to Clot” initiative to expand screening and improve early detection.
Experts say increased awareness, better diagnostic facilities, and improved access to treatment are critical to reducing the burden of the disease.
