Ongoing political talks between Rabiu Kwankwaso and Peter Obi may reshape Nigeria’s 2027 elections. Both camps have confirmed discussions about a possible joint presidential ticket. This development signals early coalition strategies ahead of the next general election.
Meanwhile, Kwankwaso is set to join the African Democratic Congress today. Party leaders David Mark and Rauf Aregbesola will officially receive him. He may defect alongside Aminu Gwarzo, strengthening the party’s structure. Before this move, Kwankwaso met Atiku Abubakar in Abuja. He also held prior discussions with Aregbesola, indicating growing political alignment.
Earlier, Obi visited Kwankwaso during the Kano Sallah durbar celebration. That visit included Seyi Makinde and Seriake Dickson. These meetings highlight increasing collaboration among influential political figures. Furthermore, Kwankwaso resigned from the New Nigeria People’s Party on Sunday.
He cited the need for strategic political realignment. The former presidential candidate described the decision as difficult but necessary. He emphasized his long-standing commitment to the party. However, he stressed the importance of aligning with a stronger platform.
