Nigeria defender Calvin Bassey has withdrawn from the Super Eagles squad due to a back injury. The team is set to face Iran and Jordan in international friendlies this month.Super Eagles camp opened on Tuesday in Antalya, Turkey, welcoming 15 early-arriving players.
Captain Wilfred Ndidi joined Wednesday, completing the squad at Bellis Deluxe Hotel. The team confirmed Bassey’s withdrawal following the arrival of remaining players. An advance delegation had arrived from Nigeria on Monday to prepare training logistics. Assistant coaches Daniel Ogunmodede and Fidelis Ilechukwu, medical staff, and kit managers were included.
Media officer Promise Efoghe confirmed early arrivals, including Alex Iwobi and Fisayo Dele-Bashiru.Defenders Emmanuel Fernandez, Semi Ajayi, Bruno Onyemaechi, and Bright Osayi-Samuel also reported early. Forwards Samuel Chukwueze, Ademola Lookman, Chidera Ejuke, and Akor Adams completed the group. Nigeria faces Iran Friday at 4 pm, followed by Jordan Tuesday at 8 pm Nigerian time. Both matches were relocated to Turkey due to security concerns in the Middle East. These fixtures mark Nigeria’s first gathering since their 2025 Africa Cup of Nations bronze medal.
