Suspects linked to recent unrest were arraigned at Magistrates’ Court 1 in Wuse Zone 2, Abuja, as authorities confirmed that calm has returned to the area. This follows earlier developments involving former NURTW president Baruwa, who took over the union’s national secretariat after displacing Musiliu Akinsanya.
Meanwhile, attention has shifted to emerging entertainment technology, as experts highlight the growing adoption of drone shows as a safer alternative to traditional fireworks.
According to industry expert Makanjuola, drone displays offer more advanced capabilities than fireworks, including the ability to create animated graphics, text, and coordinated light patterns in the sky.
“These are GPS-enabled drones programmed with specific flight paths, allowing them to perform choreographed movements without colliding,” he explained.
Programme Coordinator at Skypixels, Ese Obukonise, added that each drone is assigned a unique trajectory, enabling hundreds or even thousands to operate simultaneously in seamless formations.
He noted that beyond entertainment, drone shows are environmentally friendly, producing no smoke or harmful emissions compared to fireworks. Additional safety features include geofencing, altitude limits, and coordination with air traffic control to avoid interference with aircraft.
Drone technology is also expanding into sectors such as agriculture, construction, security, and advertising, with increasing use at events like Ramadan, Easter, and Independence Day celebrations.
Operators say the innovation marks a major step forward in event entertainment in Nigeria, offering a sustainable and visually dynamic alternative to traditional displays.
