Cracks within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) appear to be widening ahead of the 2027 elections, as key figures engage in high-level meetings amid stalled reconciliation efforts.
Governors Seyi Makinde and Bala Mohammed met with Seriake Dickson before heading to Kano, where they joined Rabiu Kwankwaso and Peter Obi. Though linked to Eid celebrations, sources say discussions centred on 2027 political strategies.
The meetings come as reconciliation between PDP governors and allies of Nyesom Wike has stalled. The party remains divided into factions, worsened by a court ruling that nullified a previous convention.
Both camps continue to trade accusations over the upcoming national convention, with one side insisting it will proceed, while the other dismisses claims of sabotage and calls for unity.
Observers believe the Kano gathering signals early coalition talks and possible political realignments ahead of the 2027 presidential race, despite ongoing claims of reconciliation efforts.
