The Delta State Government has received 16-year-old autistic cyclist Kanyeyachukwu Tagbo-Okeke during a stop in Asaba on his endurance journey to raise awareness about autism.
Kanyeyachukwu, who began his ride from Enugu State, is cycling through several states with Lagos as his final destination. He arrived in Asaba alongside his parents, foundation members, and a medical support team.
At the Government House, he was received by the wife of the governor, Tobore Oborevwori, who described his journey as inspiring and symbolic. She noted that his initiative, “Ride with Kanye,” aims to promote awareness and inclusion for people living with autism.
She also highlighted his achievements, including recognition by the Guinness World Records, praising his resilience and talent.
The visit, she said, aligns with her “You Matter Charity Foundation,” which focuses on inclusion and support for vulnerable groups.
Other officials present included Secretary to the State Government Kingsley Emu and Commissioner for Women Affairs Pat Ajudua, who commended the teenager’s determination and his parents’ support.
The event featured the presentation of a symbolic ₦10 million cheque to support his advocacy and ongoing journey, as the state reaffirmed its commitment to social inclusion and awareness campaigns.
