The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) is reportedly prepared to offer Super Eagles coach Eric Chelle a $100,000 monthly salary. Sources within the federation revealed they are reviewing Chelle’s current $50,000-per-month contract. Chelle initially requested $130,000 monthly to cover his technical staff and working conditions.
The NFF clarified it cannot exceed the $100,000 limit for the Franco-Malian coach. “We are open to negotiating some terms, but the ceiling remains $100,000,” the source said. Officials stressed that continuity is vital, urging Chelle to reconsider his higher demand. If Chelle insists on $130,000, the federation may explore alternative foreign coaching options.
Attempts to obtain official confirmation from NFF President Ibrahim Gusau and Secretary General Mohammed Sanusi failed.Chelle defended his proposal, stating it ensures fair compensation for his staff and proper preparation resources. He emphasized that $130,000 is in dollars, not euros, and includes salaries for his technical crew.
The coach also highlighted requests for better accommodation, transport, technical facilities, and scouting input. Despite speculation linking him to Olympique Marseille and other African teams, Chelle remains committed to Nigeria. He confirmed he still has one year left on his contract and continues squad preparations.
Fans can expect Chelle to announce the Super Eagles squad during the next FIFA international window. The NFF and Chelle appear focused on reaching a compromise that benefits both parties.
