Former two-time world heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua has reportedly relocated to Dubai, according to his uncle, Adedamola Joshua.
He confirmed that the British-Nigerian boxing star moved to the UAE city several months ago, though his stay there has been intermittent due to the ongoing regional conflict involving Iran.
Company filings for Joshua’s businesses — Sparta Promotions Limited and 258 Investments Limited — also list the UAE as his current country of residence.
Dubai has become a popular destination for wealthy Britons partly because it has no income tax. Reports indicate Joshua would have paid UK taxes on dividends of over £16m across 2023 and 2024 if he remained a UK tax resident.
The 2012 Olympic gold medallist has long visited Dubai for training and promotional activities, including a memorable sparring session on the helipad of the Burj Al Arab hotel in 2017.
Joshua, who recently suffered minor injuries in a road accident on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway that killed two of his close associates, is currently undergoing rehabilitation. His promoter, Eddie Hearn, says the boxer is targeting a return to the ring in July.
