The Attorney-General of the Federation, Lateef Fagbemi, has taken over the prosecution of former AGF Abubakar Malami and his son, Abdulaziz, over alleged terrorism-related offences and unlawful possession of firearms.
At the Federal High Court in Abuja, the Director of Public Prosecutions, Rotimi Oyedepo (SAN), informed the court that the case file had been transferred from the Department of State Services to the AGF’s office for review.
The prosecution requested a short adjournment to study the case file before proceeding, while defence counsel asked the court to strike out the case if the prosecution fails to open its case on the next date.
Justice Joyce Abdulmalik adjourned the matter to March 10, 2026, for the commencement of the trial. Malami and his son had earlier pleaded not guilty and were granted bail of N200m each with strict conditions.
