The Nigeria Customs Service has announced plans to auction 14,375 litres of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) seized from smugglers attempting to transport it to Cameroon.
The fuel was intercepted by the Service’s anti-smuggling taskforce, Operation Whirlwind, in the Calabar axis.
Zone C National Coordinator, DCC Abubakar Aliyu, said the seized petrol has a Duty Paid Value of N14,375,000.
He explained that the seizure followed intelligence-led operations targeting smuggling routes in Ikang, Bakassi, Ikom, and Ikot-Idareka, where operatives dismantled a network involved in illegal fuel exportation.
