President Bola Tinubu has tasked acting Inspector-General Tunji Disu with reforming Nigeria Police. He urged Disu to improve the Force beyond its current state. The charge comes amid rising banditry and terrorism nationwide. Tinubu decorated Disu at the State House, Abuja.He described the appointment as timely and strategic.
According to him, Nigeria faces a defining security moment. Therefore, strong leadership remains urgently required. The President expressed confidence in Disu’s capabilities. He recalled Disu’s performance during his Lagos governorship. He praised his discipline and operational competence.
Furthermore, he highlighted Disu’s record of dedication. Tinubu demanded stronger discipline across police commands. He also urged deeper inter-agency collaboration nationwide. Additionally, he emphasized restoring public trust in policing. He insisted on professionalism at every operational level.
Above all, he prioritized safety of lives and property. The President acknowledged the enormity of the task. However, he assured the new police chief of support. He linked the mandate to the Renewed Hope agenda. Tinubu encouraged Disu to consult former IGP Kayode Egbetokun. He noted continuity strengthens institutional stability.
