Africa’s richest businessman, Aliko Dangote, has projected that the naira could appreciate to N1,100 against the US dollar in 2026 if current reforms are sustained.
Speaking in Abuja at the Nigeria Industrial Policy launch, Dangote said with the naira currently trading around N1,300–N1,340, tighter import controls and support for local production could drive significant currency gains.
He stressed that blocking excessive imports, ensuring stable electricity supply and protecting local investors are critical to strengthening manufacturing and improving the exchange rate. According to him, consistent industrial policies could create conditions for meaningful appreciation of the naira.
