The Federal Road Safety Corps confirmed a fatal lone accident in Kano on Sunday. The crash occurred along Hadejia Road at Kwanar Danja around 8:35 a.m. FRSC officials received a distress call and deployed rescue teams within five minutes.
The accident involved a commercial DAF trailer carrying passengers and assorted goods. Authorities reported that the vehicle carried a total of 105 occupants. Sadly, seven passengers died as a result of the crash.In addition, seventy people sustained injuries of varying severity. Meanwhile, twenty eight occupants escaped without any injuries.
FRSC Sector Commander Idris Muhammed Lawal disclosed details through an official statement. The statement was signed by Public Relations Officer Abdullahi Labaran in Kano. According to the report, speeding caused the crash and led to loss of control.
Furthermore, officials condemned the dangerous practice of mixing goods with passengers. The commander described the incident as a single vehicle fatal crash. Emergency responders promptly evacuated injured victims to four major hospitals. Sir Sunusi Specialist Hospital received twenty four victims for urgent medical treatment.
Similarly, Gezawa General Hospital admitted another twenty four injured passengers. Murtala Mohammed Specialist Hospital treated twenty male victims after the crash. Abdullahi Wase Specialist Hospital in Nasarawa received seven injured persons. FRSC expressed deep sympathy to families of those who lost loved ones.
The corps also wished injured victims a quick recovery. Consequently, the sector commander warned drivers against speeding and reckless driving. He cautioned commercial drivers against carrying passengers with goods. Additionally, FRSC urged motorists to obey rules.
