Federal Capital Territory Minister, Nyesom Wike, has challenged the Rivers State Government over stadium access denial. He warned authorities against blocking approval for the Yakubu Gowon Stadium in Port Harcourt again. Wike stated that organisers requested the venue for a Renewed Hope Family rally.
However, the Rivers State Government reportedly rejected the application without explanation. Speaking publicly, Wike expressed frustration over repeated restrictions on political activities. He insisted that Rivers residents deserve unrestricted access to public facilities. According to him, denying such access violates democratic principles and public rights.
The minister warned that organisers would forcefully access the stadium if denied again. He delivered the warning during an event at Captain Elechi Amadi Polytechnic. The gathering marked the inauguration of Renewed Hope Agenda coordinators across Rivers State. Wike urged organisers to submit a fresh application immediately.
He also advised them to fix a new date confidently. Furthermore, he emphasized that intimidation would no longer be tolerated. He maintained that no government holds exclusive ownership over public infrastructure. Wike assured supporters that consequences would not deter lawful political engagement.
He declared that Rivers people must freely exercise political participation. The minister stressed unity, fairness, and equal access to public assets. Ultimately, he vowed to resist political suppression decisively.
