Moniepoint Inc. has disclosed that it disbursed over ₦1 trillion in credit to small and medium-sized enterprises in 2025. The fintech firm revealed this milestone in its 2025 Year in Review report. The funding supported thousands of businesses, including retailers, supermarkets, and building material sellers.
According to Moniepoint, beneficiary businesses recorded average growth exceeding 36 percent after accessing funding. This outcome highlights credit access as a strong driver of SME expansion and shared economic prosperity. The company explained that it relies on alternative data to improve financial inclusion. These data points include transaction history, business behaviour, and payment patterns.
In 2025, Moniepoint achieved unicorn status following a successful Series C funding round. The company raised over $200 million from leading global institutional investors. These investors included Google’s Africa Investment Fund, Visa, IFC, Development Partners International, and Verod Capital. The funding strengthened Moniepoint’s innovation capacity and expansion strategy.
Group Chief Executive Officer Tosin Eniolorunda described the company’s growth as intentional and purpose-driven. He said Moniepoint has evolved into a platform powering millions of African entrepreneurs. He added that Africa’s largely informal workforce continues to shape product development and investment decisions.
Meanwhile, Moniepoint MFB processed ₦412 trillion in transaction value during the year. The platform handled over 14 billion transactions nationwide, strengthening its position as Nigeria’s leading merchant acquirer. The firm also launched MonieWorld in the United Kingdom to serve the African diaspora.
Moniepoint expanded its offerings with new savings products, Moniebook, and a national microfinance bank licence. Its subsidiary, TeamApt, secured Mastercard and Visa processing licences. These developments position Moniepoint to support Nigeria’s journey toward a trillion-dollar economy.
