The Oyo State Fire Services Agency rescued a man alive during a devastating truck fire incident. The incident occurred at Kara along the Kishi Kaima Road in Irepo Local Government Area.
Agency chairman Moroof Akinwande confirmed the rescue through an official statement released in Ibadan. He stated that emergency officers received the distress report around 9pm on Wednesday. Firefighters immediately mobilised to the scene after receiving the location details from concerned residents.
The burning vehicle was identified as a Volvo truck carrying rubber materials. Intense flames had already engulfed the truck when the fire crew arrived. Fire officers launched a coordinated attack and demonstrated professionalism during the complex rescue operation. Their swift intervention enabled the successful rescue of one adult male victim.
Emergency responders transported the rescued man to a nearby hospital in Kishi. The fire service also prevented the flames from spreading to nearby buildings. Officials attributed the fire outbreak to engine sparks generated while the truck was moving.
Akinwande advised truck owners to prioritise safety measures while operating vehicles on Nigerian roads. He emphasised the importance of functional fire extinguishers inside trucks for early fire control. The agency urged residents to promptly report fire emergencies and provide accurate location information.
