The 9th edition of the All Africa Music Awards (AFRIMA) is set to take place in Lagos, Nigeria, beginning January 7, 2026, with DStv and GOtv confirmed as broadcast partners for the highly anticipated continental celebration.
The AFRIMA Music Village festival and the main awards ceremony will be aired live on dedicated pop-up channels—DStv Channel 196 and GOtv Channel 28—giving viewers across Africa and beyond front-row access to the festivities.
Organised by the International Executive Committee of AFRIMA in collaboration with the African Union Commission, and hosted by the Lagos State Government as the official host city, the annual event honours outstanding musical achievements while promoting Africa’s cultural diversity and creative excellence.
“Unstoppable Africa” Theme
This year’s edition is themed “Unstoppable Africa,” reflecting the continent’s expanding global influence and the continued rise of African music on the world stage.
The AFRIMA Music Village, an open-air concert and immersive festival experience designed to spotlight Africa’s contemporary sounds, will be broadcast live on Friday, January 9, 2026, at 8:00pm.
The festival will feature a diverse lineup of artists from across the continent, including Femi Kuti, Wande Coal, Diamond Platnumz, Mavo, and Yemi Alade, among others, representing a wide range of genres and regions.
Main Awards Ceremony
The main AFRIMA Awards ceremony will take place on Sunday, January 11, 2026, and will be co-hosted by Nigerian rapper and actor Falz and French-Senegalese actress and media personality Liliane Maroune.
DStv and GOtv will broadcast the ceremony live from 3:30pm, including red carpet coverage, live performances, and the presentation of awards celebrating Africa’s best musical talents.

In addition to live television coverage, viewers can also stream both the AFRIMA Music Village and the main awards ceremony via the pop-up channels on DStv Stream, ensuring fans can follow the celebrations across multiple screens.
