The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has launched four WhatsApp numbers for residents. These numbers aim to help citizens report uncleared refuse across Abuja efficiently.
Residents can send pictures or videos of waste that contractors fail to remove. Senior Special Assistant to the FCT Minister on Public Communications, Lere Olayinka, confirmed this. He urged residents to actively monitor sanitation services in their neighborhoods.
“The FCTA has provided four numbers for reporting uncleared refuse in the FCT,” he said. This initiative targets the growing waste management problem in the Federal Capital Territory. It ensures contractors fulfill their duties and maintain cleanliness across communities.
The new system comes after the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, signed fresh waste management contracts. Fifty-four new contractors replaced expired contracts in April 2025, following a competitive selection.
Wike also formed a task force to monitor contractors’ performance strictly. He warned that failure to deliver would lead to contract termination without exception. “Waste management is challenging, but contractors must perform their roles diligently,” Wike said.
He emphasized fairness, accountability, and proper execution as key to success. Residents are advised to indicate precise locations when sending images or videos. This helps authorities identify and hold the responsible contractors accountable.
The designated WhatsApp numbers are 08038643087, 07011073406, 07011255710, and 09114843425. By using these hotlines, citizens can actively participate in keeping Abuja clean.
Together, the FCTA and residents aim to ensure effective waste management in the capital.
