Niyi Olajide, Chairman of Cavista Holdings and the Corporate Council on Africa, has urged African leaders to act boldly. He called for the removal of bureaucratic barriers limiting business growth across the continent. According to him, Africa needs enabling policies that attract investment and encourage private sector expansion.
He made this call during the 10th Anniversary Chieftaincy Installation ceremony at the Ooni of Ife’s Palace. At the event, Olajide stressed that Africa’s economic future depends on regional cooperation frameworks. He explained that practical collaboration can unlock sustainable growth and shared prosperity.
Olajide noted that Africa’s 1.4 billion population and over three trillion dollar GDP remain underutilised. He attributed this challenge to fragmented markets and restrictive cross-border trade policies. Therefore, he encouraged leaders to simplify regulations and promote seamless regional business operations.
Furthermore, Olajide highlighted the interdependence of African economies, using Nigeria and Ghana as examples. He explained that progress in one country creates opportunities across neighboring markets. Consequently, he urged governments to remove obstacles discouraging regional investment.
He commended pan-African business leaders like Aliko Dangote for expanding across borders. According to him, such investments prove African enterprises can succeed continentally. He challenged governments to support this momentum with transparent regulations and protected property rights.
Olajide also emphasised the promise of the African Continental Free Trade Area. However, he warned that success requires harmonised standards and efficient customs processes. He described Nigeria and Ghana’s partnership as a blueprint for continental integration.
The Ooni of Ife supported this vision, stressing cultural and economic cooperation. Cavista Holdings currently operates across agriculture, finance, healthcare, hospitality, and technology sectors globally.
