Polaris Bank continues to demonstrate strong commitment to girl-child empowerment through focused health education and hygiene support initiatives across Nigeria. Recently, the bank extended this effort to female students of Kuramo and Victoria Island Junior and Senior Secondary Schools in Lagos, reinforcing its dedication to adolescent wellbeing and education.
The outreach formed part of Polaris Bank’s 2025 International Women’s Day activities and aligns with its Adolescent Health and Hygiene Support Programme. Through the Girl-Child Support and Hygiene Education Initiative, the bank aims to improve menstrual hygiene awareness, boost confidence, and reduce school absenteeism linked to lack of sanitary products.
During the event, students received essential hygiene materials designed to support proper menstrual care and daily cleanliness. In addition, Mrs Bukola Oluyadi, Group Head of Customer Experience and Value Management, delivered an interactive health session. She explained the importance of menstrual hygiene, correct sanitary pad usage, and regular personal care during puberty.
Mrs Oluyadi further encouraged daily use of clean underwear and consistent body hygiene to support comfort and confidence. She emphasized that understanding one’s body and practicing good hygiene promotes health, dignity, and self-assurance in school and beyond.
Also present, Polaris Bank’s Non-Executive Director, Mrs Subulade Giwa-Amu, addressed the students on self-care and confidence building. She highlighted how hygiene and appearance influence personal growth, self-respect, and future success, especially during formative years.
Polaris Bank reaffirmed that its girl-child initiatives align with its broader sustainability and CSR strategy. Through education, health support, and social empowerment, the bank continues improving academic performance, wellbeing, and long-term opportunities for young Nigerian girls.
