Nigerian content creator and musician Carter Efe has emerged as Africa’s most-followed Twitch streamer, surpassing comedian Shank Comics.
The milestone followed a viral livestream with Afrobeats star Davido, which caused a massive spike in followers. As of Thursday, Efe had over 406,000 followers, up from about 322,000 days earlier, while Shank Comics has roughly 233,000.
The stream also reportedly set records for the most-watched Twitch livestream in Africa with about 83,000 viewers, and made Efe the first African streamer to exceed 20,000 subscribers on the platform.
During the session, Davido connected Efe with high-profile figures including Cubana Chief Priest, Victor Osimhen, and even called out Twitch CEO Dan Clancy. The stream ended with buzz online after creator Enzo challenged Efe to a surprise boxing face-off, further fueling reactions across social media.
