The Northern Christian Association of Nigeria (Northern CAN), in partnership with Barnabas Aid Foundation, has provided essential food items to 5,000 vulnerable households across northern Nigeria. Beneficiaries included widows, persons with disabilities, victims of religious violence, and internally displaced families.
The items, which included rice, beans, maize, garri, cooking oil, sugar, and seasoning, aim to ease festive-season hardships. Speaking in Kaduna, Northern CAN Chairman Rev. Joseph Hayab said the initiative combines material support with prayers, showing recipients that they are not alone.
The relief effort extends beyond Kaduna to Bauchi, Plateau, Benue, and other affected northern states. Hayab emphasized that humanitarian support should go hand in hand with advocacy and community care.
Barnabas Aid provided financial and logistical support, highlighting the power of local and international collaboration. Northern CAN plans to sustain similar programs in 2026, including support for education, healthcare, and livelihoods.
“This is more than charity. It is an affirmation of dignity, love, and care,” Hayab said. Beneficiaries expressed gratitude for the support, which has reached tens of thousands of people.
