Southampton appear ready to part ways with Super Eagles midfielder Joe Aribo when the January window opens. The club is prepared to accept as little as £1.5m, as the player’s time at St Mary’s moves toward an expected conclusion. Turkish Super Lig sides are monitoring his situation and seem willing to make an offer.
Joe Aribo has faced a challenging period over the last five months. He slipped to the edge of the squad and struggled to earn trust from managers Will Still and Tonda Eckert. After Southampton’s relegation, many expected him to secure a move, especially with one year left on his deal. However, interest from several clubs did not produce a transfer.
This season has been even more difficult for the midfielder. He did not feature until Gameweek 13 and has made only six appearances. He accumulated 114 minutes without a start and has not played beyond 30 minutes in any match. His lack of goal contributions and attacking impact further weakened his position.
With his contract expiring this summer, Southampton are willing to take a reduced fee. Although valued at around €4m, he may now leave for £1–1.5m. Reports suggest Trabzonspor and Göztepe are both keen on signing him. Southampton hope for more, but a lower fee seems likely.
The club may also approve additional exits in January. Sam Edozie could move for around £6m, while Alex McCarthy may depart if a new goalkeeper arrives. Kuryu Matsuki is expected to go on loan after limited minutes.
Aribo, who joined in 2022, now faces a crucial winter as he searches for consistent football elsewhere.
