Super Falcons forward Asisat Oshoala continued her fine form on Thursday, scoring her sixth goal of the season to help Al Hilal secure a 2–0 win over Eastern Flames in the Saudi Women’s Premier League.
The Nigerian striker opened the scoring in the 43rd minute, reacting quickly to finish off a rebound and give Al Hilal a deserved lead before half-time. Al Hilal doubled their advantage in the 62nd minute through Al Bandari Mobarak, sealing a comfortable victory on the road.
With the win, Al Hilal remains second on the league table with 15 points from seven matches, three points behind leaders Al Nassr, who still have a game in hand. Eastern Flames’ struggles continue, as the defeat leaves them without a win this season.
Oshoala now has six goals in seven appearances, placing her third on the league’s top scorers’ list behind Clara Luvanga and Adriana.
The 30-year-old joined Al Hilal in September after a spell in the United States with Bay FC, where she scored eight goals in 38 games. Before that, she enjoyed a highly successful six-year career at Barcelona, scoring 117 goals in 162 appearances and helping the club win multiple domestic and European titles, including two UEFA Women’s Champions League trophies.
Oshoala is a two-time Ballon d’Or nominee and six-time CAF Women’s Player of the Year. She also remains a key figure for Nigeria’s Super Falcons, with whom she has won a record 10 WAFCON titles.
Al Hilal will face Al Qadsiah in their next match, while Eastern Flames take on league leaders Al Nassr.
