Nathan Tella, Bayer Leverkusen winger has returned to full team training after weeks sidelined. The 26-year-old Nigerian missed action due to a persistent knee problem, according to PUNCH Sports Extra. German outlet Bild described his participation on Tuesday as “good news for Bayer Leverkusen.”
Tella completed most of the training session for the first time since mid-September. He made large parts of the session with the squad, signaling progress ahead of Saturday’s Bundesliga trip to Wolfsburg. However, it remains uncertain whether he will be cleared to play in the match. Bild noted that “the chances are not bad that Tella will at least be in the squad.”
During training, Nathan Tella skipped the final practice match but focused on passing and shooting drills. He worked alongside Axel Tape, who is also nearing a return after a muscle-tendon injury. Manager Kasper Hjulmand is taking a careful approach, prioritizing Tella’s pain-free comeback after a lengthy absence.
Tella’s timing could prove significant as Arthur, who recently occupied the right flank, delivered mixed performances. The Nigerian winger has an opportunity to reassert himself in the starting lineup. Leverkusen face a challenging run of eight matches in four weeks, including games against Manchester City, Borussia Dortmund, Newcastle United, and RB Leipzig.
Lucas Vázquez remains sidelined with back problems and did not train, while Tape will be eased back cautiously. Tella’s return offers a crucial boost as Leverkusen manage a congested schedule across domestic and European competitions. His fitness could strengthen the team’s attack and provide much-needed depth.
