Controversial Nigerian-American artist Speed Darlington has broken his silence after failing to honor an invitation by the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP). The invitation followed a viral Instagram video in which he allegedly joked about engaging in inappropriate activity with a minor.
In a public statement, Speed Darlington clarified that the video was “purely for entertainment purposes” and not based on any real-life incident.
“The video was intended solely for clout and entertainment. It does not reflect any past or future action involving me and any female, minor, or adult,” he stated.
The singer, known for his provocative content, maintained his innocence and apologized for any distress he may have caused.
“Without admitting to any wrongdoing, I sincerely apologize for any misunderstanding or outrage this may have caused. Unfortunately, some viewers misinterpreted a joke,” he added.
Speed Darlington Misses NAPTIP Appointment
Recall that NAPTIP had summoned Speed Darlington to appear at its headquarters on May 30, 2025, but he failed to show up. In his statement, the rapper expressed willingness to appear before the agency by late June 2025.
