Ruth Otabor, the younger sister of Big Brother Naija Season 7 winner, Phyna. Has sadly passed away, just weeks after a devastating accident. Her death was confirmed in a statement released by Eko Solicitors & Advocates. On behalf of the family and shared by Phyna via her official Instagram page on Sunday.
According to the statement, Ruth died around 6:30 a.m. on August 31, 2025. The family described the loss as heartbreaking, also funeral arrangements would be shared with the public in due time.
“With a heavy heart, the family regrets to announce the passing on to glory of their daughter, sister, and mother on this 31st day of August, 2025, at about 06:30hrs,” the statement read.
The Otabor family also appealed for privacy as they mourn the tragic loss. Stressing that they need time to grieve away from public attention.Ruth’s death has left many in shock, as it occurred barely weeks after she was involved in a horrific accident.
On August 13, 2025, she was struck by a truck owned by the Dangote Group near Auchi Polytechnic in Edo State. The impact crushed her leg, which later had to be amputated. Eyewitnesses reported that the truck was eventually stopped by a courageous bystander.
Tragically, the accident happened only six days after Ruth graduated from Auchi Polytechnic. Making her death even more painful for her family, friends, and loved ones. Her sudden passing has drawn an outpouring of sympathy from fans of Phyna and the wider public.
