Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen has made history in the UEFA Champions League, becoming the first Nigerian to reach double figures in goals in the competition (excluding qualifiers).
The 26-year-old scored his 10th UCL goal on Tuesday as Galatasaray held Liverpool in a match-day two clash at Rams Park.
Making his first full start since recovering from an ankle injury, Osimhen calmly converted a 16th-minute penalty after Dominik Szoboszlai fouled inside the box, sending goalkeeper Alisson Becker the wrong way.
With the strike, Osimhen surpassed compatriots such as Obafemi Martins (9 goals) and moved clear of Ademola Lookman, Nwankwo Kanu, Victor Ikpeba, and Yakubu Aiyegbeni, who all finished their UCL careers with five goals each.
Osimhen’s milestone adds to his growing reputation as one of Africa’s most prolific forwards on the European stage.
