Preparations for the coronation of former Oyo State governor, Oba Rashidi Ladoja, as the 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland began on Monday with interdenominational prayers at the Olubadan Palace, Oke-Aremo.
Oba Ladoja will receive the staff and instrument of office on Friday, September 26, at Mapo Hall, Ibadan, in a ceremony expected to be attended by President Bola Tinubu and other dignitaries.
His emergence follows the passing of the 43rd Olubadan, Oba Owolabi Olakulehin, on July 7, 2025.
Balogun-designate Oba Tajudeen Ajibola said Ladoja’s succession has been smooth and uncontested, describing it as “destined by God.” He noted that disputes over the crown had long been resolved and praised Ladoja’s political experience, saying it would strengthen his reign.
At the prayer session, the President General of the Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes, Ajeniyi Ajewole, expressed confidence that Ladoja’s rule would bring peace and development to the city.
