Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has decried the rising wave of attacks on security operatives across Nigeria.
In a statement on X (formerly Twitter) on Tuesday, Obi described the killings of soldiers, policemen, civil defence officers, and vigilantes as “tragic and unacceptable.” He emphasized that their sacrifices in protecting the nation must not go unappreciated.
Obi urged leaders to urgently equip and motivate security personnel, insisting that governance must rest on a foundation of security. He also stressed the importance of compensating and supporting the families of slain operatives, noting that it is “not charity, but justice.”
Offering prayers for the fallen, Obi assured their families of solidarity, saying their sacrifices and patriotism will never be forgotten.
