The Federal Government of Nigeria has extended heartfelt condolences to India following the tragic crash of Air India Flight 171 in Ahmedabad on Thursday, which claimed at least 265 lives.
“Nigeria stands in solidarity with India during this time of immense grief,” said Kimiebi Ebienfa, spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
While early reports indicate no Nigerians were aboard, the Nigerian High Commission in New Delhi is in contact with Indian authorities to confirm and offer consular support if needed.
The London-bound Boeing 787 crashed into a residential area, igniting a massive fire. Officials confirmed 265 bodies had been recovered, with the death toll possibly rising.
Nigeria also joined calls for a thorough aviation safety investigation to prevent future tragedies.
