The Nigerian Defence Headquarters has reported significant achievements in its ongoing operations against terrorism and oil theft. Over the past week, security forces neutralized 92 terrorists, apprehended 111 suspects, and rescued 75 kidnapped hostages.
According to Maj.-Gen. Markus Kangye, Director of Defence Media Operations, troops recovered 117 assorted weapons and 2,939 rounds of ammunition. The seized weapons include: 58 AK-47 rifles, 21 locally fabricated guns, 26 Dane guns, Seven pump-action guns, Four PKT guns, and Additional heavy weaponry, including RPG bombs and mortar rounds
Security forces also intensified operations against oil theft in the South-South region. Troops arrested 18 suspects and prevented oil theft operations worth approximately N521.8 million. The recovered items included: 452,396 liters of stolen crude oil, 224,175 liters of illegally refined Automotive Gas Oil, and 1,920 liters of PMS
Authorities also dismantled 87 illegal crude oil refining sites, along with storage tanks, boats, and other equipment used in illicit activities.
In the North East, troops of Operation Hadin Kai reported the surrender of 101 terrorists, including 11 adult males, 39 females, and 51 children. Additionally: 25 terrorists, including commander Abba Alai (Amirul Khalid of Alafa), were neutralized, 14 terrorists were captured., and Seven kidnapped hostages were rescued.
The Nigerian military remains steadfast in its mission to protect citizens and maintain national security. “Our gallant troops will continue to fulfill their constitutional duties per our Rules of Engagement and Code of Conduct,” said Kangye.
