Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, 61, and media personality Lauren Sánchez, 55, officially tied the knot in a lavish, three-day wedding celebration from June 26 to 28, 2025. The couple exchanged vows on June 27 at the stunning San Giorgio Maggiore basilica, a private island venue in Venice, Italy, after changing from their original location due to local protests.
The ultra-luxurious event, dubbed the “wedding of the century,” attracted around 200 high-profile guests and reportedly cost between $48 million and $50 million. Each guest experience was valued at approximately $50,000, with top-tier accommodations provided at venues such as Aman Venice, Gritti Palace, and Cipriani.
Lauren Sánchez captivated the crowd in a custom Dolce & Gabbana lace bridal gown, inspired by Italian icon Sophia Loren. Over the weekend, she showcased a total of 27 outfit changes, including a golden Schiaparelli dress at the welcome party and an Atelier Versace look during a glamorous pajama-themed after-party.
The festivities featured live performances from Matteo Bocelli, Usher, and DJ Cassidy, with celebrations stretching into the early morning hours. Celebrities in attendance included Kim Kardashian, Leonardo DiCaprio, Oprah Winfrey, Bill Gates, and Queen Rania, among others.
However, the celebration also drew criticism from environmental groups concerned about overtourism and climate impact. In response, Jeff Bezos and Sánchez promoted sustainability by sourcing 80% of wedding materials locally and donating €2 million to lagoon preservation efforts.
The newlyweds concluded their festivities with a farewell lunch at Harry’s Bar on June 29 before departing Venice by water taxi. Their glamorous celebration not only highlighted their global status but also sparked conversations on environmental responsibility and local impact.
