The anniversary will celebrate golf’s impact not just on the course, but also in promoting environmental sustainability, biodiversity, discipline, and positive lifestyles.
Speaking at the unveiling, pioneer member and past ladies’ captain, Mrs. Iyabo Attah, shared her journey in the sport and the growth of the tournament over five decades.
“It is my desire to see more women take up the game of golf and encourage their children and wards to learn the sport,” she said.
The 2025 Ladies’ Captain, Mrs. Peggy Onwu, described the unveiling as a milestone:
“This represents 50 years of commitment, skill development, and building connections with ladies across Africa and beyond.”
Mr. Frank Aigbogun, Publisher of Business Day Newspapers and chair of the logo design review, praised the trailblazing women of Ikoyi Club:
“Fifty years ago, these ladies weren’t just playing golf; they were making a statement. They built something that would outlast them, and today their vision has become reality.”
Highlighting corporate support, Mr. Femi Osinubi of Price Waterhouse said the initiative aligns with the firm’s CSR goals of promoting gender equality and environmentally friendly activities.
A key moment was the logo design competition, which saw participation from over 18 secondary schools in Lagos.
Wahab Folawiyo Senior High School won first prize (₦100,000 and a brand-new computer).
Greensprings Secondary School placed second (₦70,000 and a computer).
Command Secondary School, Bonny Camp came third (₦50,000 and a computer).
The event showcased the enduring legacy of women in golf and the commitment to nurturing future generations.
