House of Representatives member Clara Nnabuife, representing Orumba North/Orumba South Federal Constituency in Anambra State. She has officially defected from the Young Progressives Party (YPP) to the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA).
Nnabuife announced her decision in a defection letter. It was read on the floor of the House during Thursday’s plenary session by Deputy Speaker Benjamin Kalu. He presided in the absence of Speaker Tajudeen Abbas.
In her letter, she cited exclusion from YPP’s activities as a major reason for her switch. Stating that she needed a better platform to effectively represent the aspirations of her constituents.
“The exclusion from the activities of YPP and the need to embrace a better platform to represent the wishes of my people is the reason for this decision,” her letter read in part.
Her defection marks a significant political shift, especially as APGA seeks to strengthen its presence in Anambra State. It remains to be seen how this move will impact the political landscape in the region and whether other YPP members might follow suit.
