Nigerian celebrity chef Hilda Baci has once again made history by officially setting a Guinness World Record for the largest serving of Nigerian-style jollof rice. The final dish weighed an astonishing 8,780 kilograms (19,356 lb 9 oz). This was confirmed by Guinness World Records.
The record-breaking feat, achieved in partnership with food brand Gino, took place at Victoria Island, Lagos, drawing thousands of supporters. Sharing the news, Guinness World Records announced: “New record: Largest serving of Nigerian style jollof rice, 8,780 kg achieved by Hilda Baci and Gino in Victoria Island, Lagos, Nigeria.”
Hilda Baci, who rose to international fame in 2023 with her 93-hour cooking marathon. Began the latest challenge at Eko Hotel and Suites. The event was a lively celebration that featured music, dancing, and participation from food enthusiasts, celebrities, and dignitaries.

To achieve the record, Hilda Baci used a special cooking vessel with a capacity of 22,619 litres, filling it to 80 percent. The attempt required approximately 5,278 kilograms of basmati rice, equivalent to 264 bags, though she rounded it to 250 bags for practicality.
The occasion attracted several notable figures, including Funke Akindele, the First Lady of Ogun State, Bamidele Abiodun. Also dancer Kaffy, Enioluwa, Veekee James, Tomike Adeoye, Tacha Akide and Alex Unusual. Their presence highlighted the national pride surrounding the achievement.
Speaking after the confirmation, Baci emphasized that her latest record is part of her mission to promote Nigerian cuisine. Inspire young culinary talents especially women, and bring global attention to Africa’s rich food culture.

Her achievement cements her position as a culinary trailblazer and reinforces Nigeria’s place on the global food map.
