Football fans in Akwa Ibom have a reason to celebrate as the state government has made tickets free for the Super Eagles’ 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Zimbabwe. The match is set for Tuesday, March 25, 2025, at Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo.
Governor Umo Eno Secures 30,000 Free Tickets
To ensure strong home support for the national team, Governor Umo Eno has covered the cost of 30,000 tickets for fans. This move is aimed at boosting morale and increasing turnout at the stadium.
Tickets will not be distributed at the stadium on match day. Fans must collect them in advance.
As an extra incentive, the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) will give free Super Eagles jerseys to the first 500 fans who secure tickets.
Currently, the Super Eagles are fourth in their qualifying group, with six points from five matches. After securing a recent victory over Rwanda, the team is looking to gain momentum in their World Cup qualification journey.
NFF General Secretary, Dr. Mohammed Sanusi, has called on fans to show up in large numbers, emphasizing that strong support can make a difference for the team.
