The Miami Dolphins secured their first win of the season on Sunday, beating the New York Jets 27-21 at Hard Rock Stadium in Florida. Quarterback Tua Tagovailoa played a key role, throwing two touchdown passes to Darren Waller, helping Miami grab the much-needed victory.
However, the celebration was cut short when star wide receiver Tyreek Hill suffered a severe knee injury. Hill made six receptions for 67 yards before leaving the game in the third quarter. He was tackled awkwardly by Jets defensive back Malachi Moore, causing his knee to twist badly.
Medical staff quickly rushed to Hill’s side, stabilized his leg, and helped him off the field on a cart. Hill smiled and waved to the crowd as he left. The Dolphins later confirmed he suffered a dislocated knee, a torn ACL, and damage to other ligaments. This injury will sideline Hill for the rest of the season.
Tua Tagovailoa completed 17 of 25 passes for 177 yards, delivering two touchdowns to Waller. This marked Waller’s first NFL game in nearly two years. Running back De’Von Achane also shined, rushing for 99 yards and scoring a touchdown. The Dolphins’ defense stepped up, led by linebacker Jordyn Brooks who made 18 tackles.
The Jets fought hard in the final minutes. Quarterback Justin Fields threw for 226 yards and a touchdown while rushing for 81 yards and another score. Wide receiver Garrett Wilson added 82 yards and a touchdown reception. Despite their late rally, the Jets failed to recover the onside kick and fell short once again. The Jets remain winless under new coach Aaron Glenn.
Looking ahead, the Dolphins (1-3) will visit the Carolina Panthers (1-3) on Sunday in Charlotte. The team must adjust to playing without Hill as they try to build momentum for the rest of the season.
