Saturday’s blockbuster showdown between Terence “Bud” Crawford (42-0) and Saúl “Canelo” Álvarez (63-3-2) became a global spectacle, pulling an estimated 41.4 million viewers worldwide on Netflix, according to internal data.
An average of 36.6 million viewers tuned in from opening bell to the final round as Crawford dominated to claim the undisputed Super Middleweight Championship. Netflix says it was the most-watched men’s championship boxing match of the century.
The fight ranked #1 on Netflix in 30 countries, including the U.S., Mexico, U.K., and Canada, and landed in the Top 10 in 91 countries. On social media, it generated over 950 million impressions, with “Canelo” and “Crawford” trending globally.
At Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, a sold-out crowd of 70,482 fans packed the arena, generating $47 million at the gate, the venue’s highest ever. Joe Hand Promotions also reported 500,000 additional viewers across bars and restaurants in North America.
Inside the ring, Crawford silenced doubts about moving up in weight. He outlanded Canelo 115–99 in total punches and dominated the jab 45–16, earning a unanimous decision (116-112, 115-113, 115-113).
The win makes Crawford the first male boxer in the four-belt era to become undisputed champion in three different weight classes, cementing his place among boxing’s all-time greats.
“I told y’all I’m not here just by coincidence. God blessed me,” Crawford said after the fight.
At 38, Crawford hinted at possible retirement but said he will decide after talks with his team.
